Guiriko Cross-Country Race Unites 715 Defense and Security Forces Personnel

Guiriko: 715 participants cover 2.1 km during an inter-FDS cohesion cross-country race. Personnel of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) of the Bobo-Dioulasso garrison took part this Wednesday in an inter-force cohesion cross-country race which brought together 715 participants on a closed circuit of 2.1 kilometers.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this sporting activity, organized to strengthen ties between the various components of the FDS (Defence and Security Forces), took place in a friendly and fraternal atmosphere. At the end of the course, participants enjoyed 15 minutes of aerobic exercises designed to promote physical recovery.

The Commander of the Second Military Region, Lieutenant-Colonel Lassan© Porgo, stated that this initiative aims to further consolidate the esprit de corps within the Defense and Security Forces. 'Sport promotes health and strengthens the cohesion that already exists between the FDS. We organize this cross-country race in rotation between the different entities to allow participants to discover the infrastructure of each corps,' he said.

This opening, he continued, "contributes to creating a united force to support the highest authorities of the country in their mission to reconquer the territory, stabilize and develop Burkina Faso, in accordance with the vision of Comrade Captain Ibrahim Traor©." Lieutenant-Colonel Porgo also praised the participation of civilians and media professionals in this activity, which he described as open and unifying.

The Regional Director of Water and Forests of Guiriko, Colonel Hassime Rabo, Sponsor of the edition, expressed his satisfaction with the organization of the event. 'Significant preparatory work has enabled the mobilization of the security forces around this activity. It is a very good initiative which brings together the different units, promotes contacts and strengthens the spirit of collaboration between the actors,' he said.

In keeping with the rotating nature of this sporting activity, Lieutenant-Colonel Lassan© Porgo has designated the Penitentiary Security Guard to host the next edition, scheduled for July.
