Sissili: The CEO of SNC welcomes the Fªte de la Musique initiative, which promotes artists and live music. The Director General of the National Culture Week (SNC), Christiane Carole Sanon/Coulibaly, welcomed the organization of the 7th edition of the Fªte de la Musique this Thursday in Bobo-Dioulasso, considering it an initiative that contributes to the promotion of Burkinab¨ artists and the rich national musical heritage.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the opening ceremony of the 7th edition of the Fªte de la Musique took place this Thursday evening in Bobo-Dioulasso in the presence of the Director General of the National Culture Week (SNC) Christiane Carole Sanon/Coulibaly and the Chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) of the SNC, Michel Saba. Comrade Christiane Carole Sanon/Coulibaly stated that she came to celebrate music alongside artists and cultural figures. She highlighted that the Fªte de la Musique (World Music Day) provides a unique platform for promoting national talent through the showcasing of traditional instruments, which reflect the cultural potential and identity of Burkina Faso.
She emphasized the importance of live music, which she considers a true space for artistic expression. For her, live performances allow artists to fully showcase their talent while offering music lovers an authentic experience of Burkinab¨ music. 'We especially encourage live performances because they allow artists to express themselves fully and music lovers to experience Burkinab¨ music to the fullest,' she stressed.
The 7th edition of the Fªte de la Musique is themed "Music and National Sovereignty". It includes training sessions, panels and live concerts aimed at strengthening the capacities of those involved in the music industry. The general commissioner of the Fªte de la Musique, Si© Armel Kam, indicated that the results of the event's seven years of existence are satisfactory. During these years, more than 150 live concerts have been organized, allowing many artists to hone their stage performances and, for some, to gain access to international stages, he stated.
Comrade Si© Armel Kam praised the constant support of partners such as the Ministry in charge of Culture, the BBDA, the media as well as several technical structures. The artistic patron of this year's event, musician Bil Aka Kora, emphasized that the Fªte de la Musique is first and foremost a celebration of live performance. For him, live music represents authenticity, the sharing of emotions between artists and the audience, and also a true training ground for young musicians.
He stressed that this practice also promotes the development of technical professions related to entertainment, particularly those of sound engineers, backliners and all the behind-the-scenes professionals who contribute to the success of concerts. The festivities of the 7th edition of the Fªte de la Musique continue on the esplanade of the Th©Stre de l'Amiti©, where several artists will perform live in front of the Bobo public on June 26 and 27, 2026, thus confirming Bobo-Dioulasso's vocation as the cultural capital of Burkina Faso.
