Sandbondtenga: The Lilma school of Ziga emerged victorious in the 2026 edition of the Organization of Sport and Culture in Primary School (OSCEP) football championship for Sandbondtenga province. The team triumphed over the school of sector 2 B from the Basic Education District (CEB) of Kaya 1, in Kaya, following a tense penalty shootout.
According to Burkina Information Agency, both teams displayed equal prowess during regulation time, which concluded with a goalless draw. The match then proceeded to penalties where Lilma, donning green jerseys, successfully converted four of their attempts compared to Sector 2B's three, securing the coveted provincial championship title.
As the winning team, Lilma received a trophy, a set of jerseys, a ball, and a cash prize of 110,000 CFA francs. Meanwhile, the runner-up, Sector 2B, was awarded 90,000 CFA francs, a ball, and a set of jerseys. The Malou school from CEB of Man© and the Touri school in sector 5 of the CEB of Pissila 1 claimed third and fourth places, earning prizes of 70,000 CFA francs and 60,000 CFA francs respectively, along with a ball and a set of jerseys.
During the award ceremony, Idrissa Gamsonr©, the High Commissioner of Sandbondtenga province, lauded the efforts of the CEBs in organizing the OSCEP amidst challenges. He emphasized that initiatives like these are crucial for the province's development, aligning with the vision of the Transition authorities.
Barkebila Sawadogo, the provincial director of preschool, primary, and non-formal education in Sandbondtenga, highlighted the impressive outcomes of the 2026 Primary School Certificate (CEP). With a success rate of 98.06%, 10,454 out of 10,661 candidates were admitted. Sawadogo reiterated OSCEP's commitment to fostering excellence, recognizing talent, and instilling values of discipline, solidarity, and community among the province's primary schools.
The football competition, organized by the provincial directorate of preschool, primary, and non-formal education in Sandbondtenga, saw champion teams from various CEBs of the province competing for the top honor.
