Ouagadougou: Norbert Zongo University has expressed its "strongest disapproval" following the circulation of a video on social media depicting students dressed as girls on the campus basketball court. The university stated that such behavior contradicts the laws in force and the endogenous values promoted in Burkina Faso.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the university administration issued a press release on Monday, highlighting their awareness of the viral video and their subsequent efforts to investigate the circumstances surrounding the activity. The university authorities summoned and heard testimonies on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from numerous participants and witnesses involved in the demonstration that took place on Sunday, June 21, 2026.

The statements collected during the hearings revealed that the event, named the "Koudougou robe challenge," was orchestrated within a WhatsApp group of basketball players before it was conducted on the university grounds. The UNZ administration condemned the initiative, labeling it as incompatible with the current regulations and the cultural and endogenous values upheld by the nation's highest authorities.

In response, the university reminded the community that organizing any event on campus requires prior written authorization, adhering to the existing regulations. The institution emphasized that this position aligns with their commitment to preserving the academic environment and ensuring adherence to administrative rules and the values fostered within the university setting.
