Nayala: The Minister of State, Minister of War and Patriotic Defence, Major General Celestin Simpore, urged the Defence and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP) on Friday in Gaoua to remain vigilant and determined in the fight against terrorism, while conveying to them the congratulations and encouragement of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore.
According to Burkina Information Agency, on tour in the Dj´r´ region, the Minister of State, Minister of War and Patriotic Defence, Major General Celestin Simpore, addressed the FDS and VDP engaged in securing the region. Before his address, the minister paid tribute to the security forces, the volunteers, and the entire Burkinab¨ people for their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. He also called for honoring the memory of the fallen soldiers and offered his wishes for a speedy recovery to the wounded.
Major General Celestin Simpore indicated that this visit is part of a national tour that began several months ago and was interrupted last April. According to him, this stop in Gaoua aimed to convey a message of recognition, congratulations, and encouragement from the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, Supreme Commander of the National Armed Forces, to the troops deployed in the field. "These men are doing tireless work with courage and resilience. It was important to come and show them the Nation's gratitude and encourage them to continue their mission," he said.
The Minister of State, however, urged the fighting forces to remain vigilant despite the lull in fighting in the region. He reiterated that the struggle is a war of survival, true independence, and sovereignty, insisting that no relaxation of vigilance can be allowed. Referring to the recent attacks against the positions of the fighting forces in the Liptako and Sirba region, he praised the reaction of the forces involved who demonstrated bravery and professionalism in the face of the attackers.
Major General Celestin Simpore said he was convinced that the Burkinab¨ people and their army have the necessary determination to defend the integrity of the national territory and preserve the sovereignty of Burkina Faso. The minister also praised the role of the media in the security context, stating that communication is a key driver of national mobilization. He urged media professionals to continue their support in the reconquest of the territory and the consolidation of peace.
