Bassitenga: The High Commissioner of the Bassitenga Province, Comrade Sadou Guigma, has called upon all associations and unions in the region to adhere to Law No. 011-2025/ALT concerning freedom of association in Burkina Faso. This directive comes with a strict compliance deadline of July 23, 2026.

According to Burkina Information Agency, a statement released on June 30, 2026, by the High Commissioner emphasized the necessity for association leaders to align with the new law. The statement highlights that Law No. 011, enacted through Decree No. 2025-0959/PF on July 23, 2025, supersedes the previous Law No. 064-2015/CNT that was established on October 20, 2015, which formerly regulated the freedom of association in the country.

Per the transitional provisions outlined in Law 011, particularly Article 84, associations and unions must comply with the updated regulations within one year from the law's enactment. Failure to meet this deadline will result in the dissolution of the non-compliant entities.

Comrade Sadou Guigma specifically urged associations that were issued receipts under the former law to transition to compliance with Law No. 011-2025/ALT. This transition includes updating statutory documents, internal regulations, statutes, and obtaining new legal recognition documents.

The High Commissioner expressed trust in the civic responsibility and patriotism of community organizations to prevent complications that could arise from non-compliance with the stipulated deadline.
