Goulmou: Representatives of the Goulmou region participated on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the Goulmou Regional Directorate of Preschool, Primary, and Non-Formal Education, in the traditional monthly flag-raising ceremony presided over by the regional governor, Ram Joseph Kafando. The ceremony included the reading of a message from the President of Burkina Faso, President of the Confederation of Sahel States (CSA), on the occasion of the organization's second anniversary.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the regional director of preschool, primary and non-formal education in Goulmou, Yacouba Thiombiano, expressed his delight at the choice of his department to host this republican ceremony. He expressed his gratitude to the highest authorities for their efforts in support of the education sector and offered wishes for peace and stability in the region, while invoking divine protection on the authorities engaged in the conduct of public affairs.
The message from the President of Faso was read by the Governor of the Goulmou region, Ram Joseph Kafando, who recalled that the creation of the Alliance of Sahel States on September 16, 2023, and then that of the Confederation of Sahel States on July 6, 2024, reflect the will of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger to pool their efforts in the face of security challenges and to build a space based on sovereignty, solidarity, and shared responsibility.
He stressed that two years after its creation, the Confederation has made significant progress in the areas of defense and security, diplomacy, economic integration, and the strengthening of confederal institutions. The governor paid tribute to the fighting forces, the resilient populations, and the martyrs who fell in defense of the sovereignty of the states of the Confederation.
He also reaffirmed the Confederation's commitment to the ideals of Pan-Africanism, mutual respect between States and cooperation based on sovereign equality, while reiterating the commitment of the three countries to continue dialogue with their partners in respect of their sovereign choices. He invited the people of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger to remain united, vigilant, and more committed to the work in order to consolidate the achievements of the Confederation and to build an area of peace, security, shared prosperity, and sustainable development.
