Zoundw©ogo: The underage candidates implicated in the alleged cheating case of the 2026 BEPC (Brevet d'€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬°tudes du Premier Cycle) exam at the Gu©r© secondary school in the Guiba district appeared in court on Monday, July 6, accompanied by their parents, before the juvenile judge of the Manga High Court. At the request of the deputy presiding judge, representing the prosecutor of Burkina Faso at the said court, the judge adjourned the trial until July 27 due to the unavailability of the results of the social inquiry.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the prosecutor of Faso, Oulon Roland, issued a press release on Thursday, July 2, stating that the twenty-four minor candidates involved in the BEPC fraud case, 2026 session in the secondary center of Gu©r©, commune of Guiba, province of Zoundw©ogo appeared free following the flagrant offense procedure, on July 6, in the office of the children's judge, accompanied by their parents.

Following preliminary observations, the deputy prosecutor, Malgoubri Kassoum, requested that the case be adjourned until July 27. The reason given, according to him, was the unavailability of the results of the social inquiry, a legal requirement stipulated in Article 516-8 of Law No. 009-2025/ALT concerning the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Citing the said law, in matters of crime or offence, when minors are involved in the same case as adults, the prosecutor of Faso creates a special file concerning the child and refers it to the juvenile judge. At the same time, he ordered a social inquiry by a social worker or service he designated for this purpose, he argued.

Following the prosecutor's submissions, the juvenile judge adjourned the case until July 27, 2026. Before adjourning the session, he reminded the parents of those involved to remain available to the justice system for the purposes of the social inquiry and not to travel outside the territory without first notifying the juvenile judge or the prosecutor.
