Dori: The governor of the Liptako and Soum region, Abdoul Karim Zongo, called on the constituted bodies in Dori on Tuesday to remain vigilant in order to root out and combat the auxiliaries of imperialism. He was speaking during the traditional monthly raising of the national flag, which included the reading of a message from the President of Burkina Faso and President of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES), Captain Ibrahim Traor©, on the occasion of the Confederation's second anniversary.
According to Burkina Information Agency, at the end of the ceremony, Governor Abdoul Karim Zongo urged the region's key stakeholders to remain mobilized to defend the ideals of sovereignty championed by the Confederation of Sahel States. He called on the constituted bodies to identify and combat all forms of support for imperialist interests that could weaken the member states of the ESA. He emphasized that vigilance remains a collective duty in the current security context.
During the ceremony, the governor delivered the message from the President of Faso, Head of State and President of the Confederation of Sahel States, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, delivered on the occasion of the second anniversary of the AES. In this address, the Head of State greeted the people of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, recalling that the Confederation was born from the will of the three countries to strengthen their cooperation in order to preserve their sovereignty. He also paid tribute to the Defence and Security Forces (FDS), the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP), and the populations engaged in the fight against terrorism, while reaffirming the priorities of Year II of the Confederation.
Speaking about the security situation, the governor said that the terrorist attacks perpetrated against the countries of the ESA, particularly after Burkina Faso's decision to break off diplomatic relations with France, do not call into question the determination of the confederated states to continue their march towards sovereignty. He praised the efforts of the Defense and Security Forces as well as the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland, whom he congratulated for the successes achieved on the ground.
The top official in the region also congratulated education stakeholders for the performances recorded in the 2026 school examinations. The Liptako region recorded a success rate of 91.24% in the Primary School Certificate (CEP) and 51.14% in the Junior High School Certificate (BEPC). According to the governor, these results reflect the combined efforts of teachers, students, parents, and those responsible for the education system.
