Houet: The raising of the colors in Satiri was marked by patriotism and civic vigilance. The prefecture of Satiri hosted, on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the monthly ceremony of raising the national colors, organized as part of the promotion of patriotism, civic duty, and citizen engagement.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was chaired by the prefect of the department, Emmanuel Ou©draogo, and attracted the heads of various public services of the municipality, administrative, religious, and customary authorities, as well as representatives of local associations. The Forestry Service conducted the flag-raising ceremony. In his speech, Warrant Officer Ousseini Zango, head of the Satiri Territorial Brigade, urged the local population to enhance their cooperation with the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), and the Dozos (traditional hunters), encouraging them to promptly report any suspicious activities that could threaten the safety of people and property.
The head of the Water and Forestry Department, Olivier Bayala, addressed the attendees, emphasizing the importance of reforestation. He encouraged everyone to participate in the national reforestation initiative by planting at least one tree, a move aligned with the government's environmental efforts.
Concluding the ceremony, the Prefect of the department, Camarade Ou©draogo, invited participants to attentively listen to a message from the President of Burkina Faso, who is also the current Chairman of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES). The message highlighted the need for strengthening patriotism and urged every Burkinab¨ to align with the ideals of the Confederation of Sahel States, which Ou©draogo read aloud.
The prefect also honored the Defense and Security Forces who sacrificed their lives for the nation, stressing the significance of adopting the principles of the Progressive and Popular Revolution (RPP). He called on every citizen to contribute to social cohesion and the development of Burkina Faso through their commitment.
The ceremony concluded with a display of patriotic unity, as participants chanted the national motto: "Homeland or Death, we will prevail!"
