Ouagadougou: Community actors made aware of the new law on freedom of association The High Commissioner of the Soum province, Comrade Wend Nere Wilfried TOUGMA, presided, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 in Djibo, over an information and exchange meeting with the heads of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and associations of the province on Law No. 011-2025/ALT of July 17, 2025 on freedom of association, with a view to facilitating their compliance with the new legal provisions.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting saw a strong turnout from NGO and association leaders working in Soum province. Its aim was to present the main innovations introduced by the new law and to inform stakeholders of their new obligations.

In his speech, the High Commissioner, Comrade Wend Nere Wilfried TOUGMA, indicated that this reform responds to the authorities' desire to strengthen the governance of the associative sector, to improve transparency in the management of organizations and to guarantee greater effectiveness of actions implemented for the benefit of the population.

He also invited the heads of organizations to take, without delay, the necessary steps to comply with the requirements of the new legal framework, while reaffirming the administration's willingness to support them in this process.

The presentations were followed by lively discussions, during which participants expressed their concerns and sought clarification on several provisions of the law.

The answers provided helped to better understand the implications of the reform as well as the procedures for achieving compliance.

At the end of the meeting, the heads of NGOs and associations welcomed the initiative of the administrative authorities and pledged to respect the new legal provisions by accelerating the administrative procedures required to comply with Law No. 011-2025/ALT of July 17, 2025 on freedom of association.
