Ouagadougou: A genuine surge of citizen mobilization was observed this Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the exit of the town of Solenzo. Responding to the call of the High Commissioner of the Banwa province, Sanfi©nal© Joseph Sirima, dozens of people gathered from the early hours of the morning to carry out maintenance on a section of the Solenzo-D©dougou road.

According to Burkina Information Agency, armed with picks, shovels, and wheelbarrows, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), the agricultural VDP, and many residents of the commune joined forces to fill the potholes that were making traffic difficult on this strategic road linking the province to the regional capital. The potholes were filled with loose stones.

Tricycles were used to collect the loose stones and dump them on the damaged section of the road. In a brief address, High Commissioner Sanfi©nal© Joseph Sirima commended the massive mobilization of the local population and the armed forces, before emphasizing the importance of this road for opening up the province and facilitating trade between Solenzo and D©dougou. He also urged users to take ownership of this infrastructure by adopting responsible behaviors in order to preserve the progress made.

This road maintenance operation is part of a broader dynamic of patriotism and community engagement promoted by the provincial authorities, notably through the Faso Baara initiative, organized every Saturday in the various communes of the Banwa province.
