Ouagadougou: The National Coordination of Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) organized an awareness and exchange meeting in Sindou, aimed at strengthening collaboration among the local populations, VDP, and Defense and Security Forces (FDS) to combat terrorism more effectively.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting, held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, was chaired by the President of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune of Sindou, Issiaka Yadia. It brought together residents from various villages within the department, alongside representatives of the VDP and FDS from Ouagadougou, Banfora, and Sindou. The initiative seeks to bolster cooperation among these stakeholders in securing the national territory against terrorist threats.

Discussions during the meeting emphasized vigilance regarding social media use, reporting of suspicious behavior and movements, and exercising caution in interactions with unfamiliar individuals. Sina Ouattara, representing the customary authorities, expressed approval of the initiative and encouraged security forces to enhance collaboration with the population to achieve security goals.

PDS Issiaka Yadia praised the meeting’s organizers and called on the population to remain vigilant. He emphasized maintaining close collaboration with security forces and volunteers to effectively protect people and property amidst ongoing terrorist threats.
