Ouagadougou: Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ou©draogo evaluated the mid-term performance contracts of the Ministers of Justice and Trade on Saturday, revealing completion rates of 75.10% and 61.28% respectively as of June 30, 2026. The Minister of Justice, Edasso Rodrigue Bayala, and the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Handicrafts, Serge Gnaniodem Poda, presented their progress in Ouagadougou.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Minister of Justice’s performance contract encompasses six objectives, eleven actions, and thirty-eight outputs focusing on access to justice, judicial matter handling, prison administration, human rights protection, citizenship, and defending state interests. Key accomplishments include operationalizing 499 customary courts, processing over 4,000 legal cases, recovering more than 3.033 billion CFA francs in fines and court costs, and seizing nearly 800 million CFA francs in assets from economic crimes.
The Justice Minister also reported placing over 4,000 individuals in community service and training more than 1,500 Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) in human rights. Citizenship and peace awareness campaigns have reached five million people. For the year’s second half, Mr. Bayala aims to accelerate digitizing administrative acts, continue reforms such as the Penal Code revision, and enhance public fine collection.
Regarding the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Handicrafts, the 61.28% execution rate reflects progress in 11 priority actions and 52 activities planned for 2026. Initial efforts concentrated on strengthening consumer goods controls, advancing industrial projects at SN-Brafaso and the Faso Flour Mill (MINOFA), and supporting artisans with equipment and capacity building.
Minister Serge Gnaniodem Poda noted the historic results recorded by state-owned companies at their 34th General Assembly, attributed to ongoing reforms. Plans for the second half of the year include accelerating Faso Yaar’s operationalization, continuing governance reforms of public enterprises, and successfully organizing the 18th edition of the Ouagadougou International Arts and Crafts Fair (SIAO), scheduled from October 30 to November 8, 2026.
