Ouagadougou: By naming its 25th class of Active Duty Officer Cadets (EOA) after ‘Lieutenant Alexandre Bienvenu Sawadogo’, the Georges-Namoano Military Academy of P´ immortalizes the memory of an officer who fell in the service of the Fatherland and sets up his career as an example for the future leaders of the National Armed Forces. The late Lieutenant Alexandre Bienvenu Sawadogo distinguished himself by his commitment, his high sense of duty, and his unwavering dedication to the service of the Nation.

According to Burkina Information Agency, on February 25, 2022, Lieutenant Sawadogo was leading an operational mission in the Central-East region as the mission leader of the Quick Reaction Force (QRF) of the 34th Commando Infantry Regiment (34th RIA). At approximately 7:00 a.m. in Zembennega, he was killed by an improvised explosive device (IED) while carrying out his mission.

Beyond the circumstances of his disappearance, it is the example of an officer who remained faithful to his oath until the ultimate sacrifice that the military institution wishes to transmit to officer cadets. For the Military Academy, his career embodies the cardinal values of the military profession: honor, discipline, courage, loyalty, and selflessness.

By choosing to name the 25th promotion after itself, the Georges-Namoano Military Academy of P´ invites future officers to draw from this moral and professional heritage the necessary reference points for the exercise of command and the service of the Nation.
