Ouagadougou: The provincial section of Sno of Burkina Rempart organized a training session in Dori for fifty actors of citizen watch and civil society organizations. The session, held under the theme "Role and responsibilities of citizen watch groups and civil society organizations," was conducted under the patronage of the High Commissioner of the Sno province, Yaya Kon.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative underscores Burkina Rempart's dedication to equipping its members with the necessary knowledge and tools to effectively fulfill their missions within a national context marked by security challenges and the dynamics of the Popular Progressive Revolution. Hama Maga, the Secretary General of Burkina Rempart, stated that the training aims to enhance participants' understanding of their roles and responsibilities, contributing to peace, social cohesion, and community resilience.
High Commissioner Yaya Kon emphasized the importance of citizen vigilance as a crucial tool for addressing the various challenges facing Burkina Faso. He highlighted that these structures play a significant role in reinforcing civic responsibility, promoting national unity, combating disinformation, and supporting development and security efforts.
Mr. Kon described the training as a framework for acquiring knowledge and a school of responsibility, discipline, and solidarity. He encouraged participants to embrace the modules to strengthen their skills and act professionally, adhering to the laws and institutions of the Republic. The training covered the fundamentals of citizen monitoring, the roles and missions of the actors, and their legal prerogatives and limits, as elaborated by Arouna Kabor, the regional director of Economy and Planning of Liptako/Soum.
Participants expressed appreciation for the training's relevance and committed to applying the acquired knowledge in their communities. They vowed to promote civic duty, responsibility, and solidarity while supporting development actions for the benefit of their communities. Burkina Rempart aims to make citizen watchdogs and civil society organizations responsible partners, capable of supporting authorities in preserving peace, strengthening national unity, and promoting local development in compliance with the laws of the Republic.
