Ouagadougou: 2,450 new high school graduates from the Goulmou, Sirba, and Tapoa regions have commenced their mandatory patriotic immersion training in Fada N'Gourma. The event, marking the second edition of this initiative, was inaugurated by the governor of the Goulmou region, Ram Joseph Kafando, in the presence of administrative, military, paramilitary, and customary authorities, as well as former and new conscripts.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony featured demonstrations such as close order drills, side steps, and first aid, performed by former conscripts under the guidance of combat forces instructors. Attendees also viewed a message from the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor, emphasizing the program's goal of fostering a disciplined and patriotic youth ready to serve the nation.
Governor Ram Joseph Kafando highlighted that the immersion aligns with the Popular Progressive Revolution (RPP) and the Presidential Initiative for quality education. He stated that the training aims to instill responsibility and discipline in the graduates, ensuring they are deeply connected to national values.
The training spans 30 days, comprising ten modules delivered by civilian trainers and the defense and security forces. The curriculum includes topics such as national identity, patriotism, civic engagement, Burkina Faso's political history, and public security.
Regional director Gabriel Sawadogo noted that approximately 2,450 conscripts are participating in this edition, spread across six sites, including Diaba Lompo high school and Yendabili vocational high school in Goulmou, among others. Various professionals, including teachers and human rights advisors, are involved to guarantee thorough training.
Anna Thiombiano, representing the new conscripts, expressed enthusiasm for the program, affirming the participants' commitment to adapt and serve Burkina Faso effectively. The opening ceremony also featured a tree-planting activity.
This initiative seeks to reinforce civic duty, discipline, and patriotism among the graduates, contributing to the development of a sovereign and resilient Burkina Faso.
