K©n©dougou: The Criminal Chamber of the High Court (TGI) of Orodara, sitting in its ordinary session of July 30, 2026, sentenced BSL to life imprisonment, prosecuted for the murder of two people in Torokoto, in the commune of N'Dorola, on June 21, 2026 following a land dispute.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the defendant, a 41-year-old man, was accused of fatally shooting SC and his nephew AD, both from the village of Sokourani (Kayan commune). The events occurred in the context of a land dispute between the parties involved.

The judicial and security investigation revealed that the dispute centered around a plot of land located between the fields of the parties involved, allegedly given by the late SC's grandfather to a Fulani family. The family reportedly left the area for Mali amid a security crisis, leading to competing property claims and recurring disputes each agricultural season over the land's use.

In court, the accused initially claimed the shooting was accidental and contested the attempted murder charge concerning CS. However, upon reviewing his preliminary investigation statements and formal investigation findings, he recanted and admitted to intending to attack his opponents on the disputed land. He also confessed to making death threats against them before the incident.

The prosecution, in its closing arguments, requested the defendant's acquittal on the attempted murder charge of CS due to reasonable doubt but sought conviction for the murders of SC and AD. They recommended a life sentence for the defendant.

The Criminal Chamber, after deliberation, acquitted BSL of the attempted murder charge of CS because of reasonable doubt but found him guilty of the murders of SC and AD, resulting in a life imprisonment sentence.
