Ouagadougou: Applications for accreditation and agreements with the Ministry of Health are now submitted via "e-Accreditation". The Minister of Health officially launched the "e-Agrement" platform on Friday in Ouagadougou, designed to simplify and accelerate the procedures for applications to open and operate private health establishments and applications for agreements with the ministry.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the platform has been operational since the end of April 2026, as stated by the Director of Information Systems at the Ministry of Health, Dimitri Ouattara. By the date of its official launch, it had already registered 247 applications, of which 39 resulted in authorization. Ouattara explained that the previous procedure involved more than 16 steps, and emphasized that the new system allows users to track the progress of their applications in real time, eliminating the need for multiple trips.
The platform enables various authorized departments within the ministry to review files and make recommendations on a single platform. This system aims to improve traceability and reduce the risk of lost documents, while also shortening processing times. The Minister of Health, Dr. Robert Lucien Jean-Claude Kargougou, highlighted "e-Agrement" as a step towards creating a "single window for health" that will dematerialize administrative procedures over time.
Previously, obtaining authorization for a private health facility required 16 steps and the involvement of 11 intermediaries. Dr. Kargougou emphasized the platform's role in enhancing service access, transparency, simplification, and traceability. He encouraged healthcare professionals, civil society organizations, and technical and financial partners to adopt the platform.
Minister of Digital Transition, Aminata Zerbo/Sabane, noted that this launch is part of a broader governmental effort to digitize public administration services. She commended the Ministry of Health's commitment to digital transformation projects, which also include the dematerialization of business licenses and the implementation of a hospital information system.
Among the initial users of the platform is the NGO Jibayo, which secured a support agreement with the ministry. Dr. Jeremy Zoulana, the country director, shared that the process, initiated in May, was completed in under three months. He contrasted this experience with prior paper-based procedures that often took around a year due to the risk of document loss or errors.
Dr. Zoulana mentioned that any challenges faced were related to internet connectivity rather than the platform's functionality. He also noted the assistance provided by ministry officials throughout the process. Through "e-Approval", the Ministry of Health aims to continue modernizing its administrative processes and improve user access to its services.
