Ouagadougou: A training session on transcription and teaching methods for bilingual and multilingual education, in line with the harmonized curriculum, was launched on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Djibasso. It aims to strengthen the capacities of education stakeholders in transcription and teaching methods, in order to better support the widespread implementation of bilingual and multilingual education in schools.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the session brought together primary education inspectors and Heads of Basic Education Districts (CCEB) from the CEBs of Djibasso, Madouba and Kombori. The Bwamu language training was provided by Inspector Forazoun Saboue. Following this phase, the participants continued their work in Dioula. However, the absence of a trainer in this language was noted by several stakeholders, raising concerns about the smooth running of this part of the training.

The organizers stated this session is a preparatory step for strengthening the capacities of teachers, scheduled to begin next September. This training should enable the effective implementation of bilingual and multilingual education in CP1 classes from the next school year. This step marks the transition to a new phase of generalization of the reform, which must concern all functional schools in the national territory.

For the Head of the Basic Education District (CCEB) of Djibasso, Pascal Coulibaly, this training responds to a need for harmonization of teaching practices. "The success of generalizing bilingual and multilingual education depends first and foremost on a good mastery of transcription and didactic approaches by educational supervisors," he indicated. CCEB Coulibaly argued that this session is an essential step before teacher training, in order to ensure effective implementation in all schools concerned from the next school year.
