Ouagadougou: Colonel Koudbi Florian Th©ophile Tago officially assumed leadership of the 3rd Gendarmerie Legion in Burkina Faso, emphasizing the protection of citizens and fostering a results-oriented culture within the force. In his inaugural address, he highlighted these priorities as central to his command strategy.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Colonel Tago outlined his commitment to safeguarding the population and defending the general interest. His approach focuses on strengthening the cohesion between gendarmes, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), and the local populace. He aims to foster a culture centered on achieving tangible results to meet the expectations of both the military hierarchy and the citizens.
Colonel Tago views his role through the lens of the Popular Progressive Revolution (RPP) and the mission directives from the Chief of Staff of the National Gendarmerie. He aspires to contribute significantly to combating terrorism, recognizing the weight of his responsibilities over four major administrative regions in Burkina Faso. For him, this appointment signifies a dedicated commitment to national service.
In his address, Colonel Tago paid tribute to his predecessor, Colonel Issa Yaguibou, acknowledging his accomplishments and pledging to build upon the existing foundation to address emerging security challenges. He also honored soldiers and victims of terrorism for their sacrifices in defending the nation.
The new commander called upon administrative, judicial, military, customary, and religious authorities, along with all partners, to support the 3rd Legion in fulfilling its mission. He also encouraged the people of the regions under his command to continue supporting the Defense and Security Forces and the VDP, assuring them of open communication and cooperation with the 3rd Legion.
