Ouagadougou: The village of Kikigogo, situated in the commune of Koudougou, Boulkiemd© province, recently hosted the second edition of its school excellence ceremony. The event, held on August 8, highlighted the achievements of the region's outstanding students and honored the dedication of their educators.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony, themed "School, a springboard for socio-professional integration and personal fulfillment," was presided over by the representative of the PDS in Koudougou. It drew a significant number of attendees, including parents, villagers, and various distinguished guests. The chairman of the organizing committee, Kouilbi Herv© Kagambega, emphasized the historic improvement in academic results, noting an unprecedented pass rate in this year's Primary School Leaving Certificate (CEP) exams. Kikigogo school boasted a pass rate of 95.12%, with 39 out of 41 candidates succeeding, while Wabala school achieved a rate of 78.72%, with 37 out of 47 candidates passing.
The initiative, which began in 2025, has been instrumental in improving academic performance. The positive results serve as a response to past criticisms and underscore the importance of education as a fundamental investment in development and human dignity. To promote a culture of healthy competition, numerous awards were presented to diligent students. Top students from CP1 to CM2 received complete school kits, while the best performers in the CEP and CM2 classes were awarded bicycles.
Teachers, referred to as "guardians of knowledge," were also acknowledged for their relentless efforts. The community, including the CCEB representative Mathias Yameogo, local chief Beno®t Koudougou Souly, and the PDS representative for the commune, collectively celebrated the academic achievements and expressed their commitment to fostering excellence in the future.
The ceremony concluded with a sense of unity and celebration, reinforcing the collective commitment to maintaining this momentum of excellence in future editions, with an emphasis on civic responsibility and local development.
