Ouagadougou: The Young Peacemakers Association (JFP) organized on Wednesday in Ouagadougou the 8th stage of the "Peace Caravan: Seeds of Cohesion", during which local actors of District No. 11 were invited to strengthen dialogue, trust, and solidarity between communities.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this event was placed under the patronage of El Hadj Sayouba Traor and notably featured the installation of a Peace Cell in the district. This Peace Cell is presented as a permanent framework for dialogue, listening, and raising awareness in favor of social cohesion.
"Peace is built every day, by each of us," stated JFP President Hermann Guingane, urging participants to prioritize dialogue, listening, and respect for differences. Mr. Guingane highlighted the importance of mobilizing women, young people, religious leaders, customary and community authorities, and local authorities around the same table as a "sign of hope" for the preservation of national unity. He called on participants to make peace a daily commitment in families, neighborhoods, places of worship, and workplaces.
The president of the Special Delegation of District No. 11, Marou Yamogo, expressed his support for an initiative which, since its launch in November 2025, continues its journey in different districts of the capital. Mr. Yamogo emphasized that "peace is not decreed, it is built," and that social cohesion is a "foundation of collective resilience" in a context marked by several challenges for Burkina Faso. He assured the JFP of the Special Delegation's availability to support initiatives promoting peace, solidarity, and living together in the district. Furthermore, he expressed hope that the Peace Cell would help prevent tensions and build trust among different community components.
El Hadj Sayouba Traor, the ceremony's sponsor, encouraged the people of Burkina Faso to prioritize national unity, individual responsibility, and solidarity to address security and social challenges. He urged the community to banish divisions based on ethnicity, religion, or region, stating, "We are first and foremost Burkinab¨."
The "Seeds of Cohesion" peace caravan aims to enhance community cohesion through awareness-raising activities, community dialogue, and the gradual establishment of peace cells in neighborhoods. The 8th stage of the Peace Caravan brought together representatives from religious denominations, customary and community authorities, youth and women's organizations, as well as the media. The initiative seeks to bring communities closer together and to promote a culture of peace and social cohesion through dialogue and awareness-raising in the different districts of Ouagadougou.
