Ouagadougou: A delegation from the National Bureau of Major Projects (BNGP), led by agricultural engineer Abraham Oudraogo, visited the agricultural site of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) in the commune of Niaogho, Boulgou province, on Tuesday. The visit aimed to assess the progress of the agricultural work carried out by these young people committed to food sovereignty, after their training at Bagr Ple.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the site provided by the municipality showcased six hectares of sown cowpeas, nearly one hectare of maize in full growth, and half a hectare of okra. This initiative is being recognized as a testament to the commitment to presidential initiatives for food self-sufficiency. "This is concrete proof of their commitment to presidential initiatives for food self-sufficiency," said Comrade Oudraogo during the visit.

The BNGP supports these efforts by providing improved seeds, fertilizers, and technical assistance. This close monitoring aims to identify and address any difficulties encountered in the field. Addressing the producers, Comrade Oudraogo assured them that the harvest would belong to them entirely, stating, "The government expects nothing from you at the end of the harvest. Everything you produce belongs entirely to you."

The delegation's visit also served as an opportunity to engage with the young producers and address their concerns, ensuring that the initiatives continue to thrive and contribute to the region's food security goals.
