Nayala/Excellence in Kougny: Top Students Receive Bicycles and School Supplies

Ouagadougou: The Movement for the Development of Goin (MDG) in the commune of Kougny celebrated the 5th edition of the Day of School Excellence at the Goin public primary school on Saturday, August 15, 2026. During the event, students who achieved high academic performance were rewarded with bicycles and school kits.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony was held under the theme "Hand in hand for a more prosperous village: encouraging merit, building the future" and was presided over by Idrissa Barro, the president of the special delegation of Kougny. Barro congratulated the award winners, urging them to sustain their efforts and reminding them that "excellence is not just about a good grade or a ranking." He also appealed to the parents and sons of Goin to continue supporting the school and the General Education College (CEG).

Aboubacar Toe, president of the MDG, highlighted that the initiative's aim is to promote academic excellence, even amidst challenging security conditions. He expressed gratitude to the FDS and VDP for their efforts in resettling Goin and commended the resilience of the teachers and students.

The representative of the DPESFPT, Tone Desire, applauded the reopening of the CEG, attributing it to the mobilization efforts of the sons of Goin and praised the dedication of various stakeholders involved.

The top three performing students in the CEP of the CEB of Kougny hailed from the school of Goin. The ceremony featured blessings from the traditional chief of Goin and a slam performance in the San language on alcoholism by Inspector Sow Siaka, head of the basic education district of Kougny.
