Ouagadougou: The Governor invites the media to “communicate in order to build”

The Governor of the Yaadga region, Thomas Yampa, initiated a framework for discussions on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, with media and communication professionals in the region to urge them to take ownership of the issues of the RPP and the ‘RELANCE’ framework, AIB observed on site.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Governor highlighted the necessity of the meeting after a year of collaboration, emphasizing the significant security, social, and development challenges the region faces. He reiterated that the role of the media is critical in relaying safe and reliable information to support the vision of the nation’s highest authorities.

During the event, two presentations were conducted focusing on the media’s role in social mobilization and the reconquest of the territory, discussing the importance of effective information and communication strategies within the RPP framework. Communicators were encouraged to make public policies more accessible by simplifying and translating them into messages understandable to all societal segments, while also promoting local initiatives and fostering active citizen participation in local development.

Media professionals were urged to verify the credibility of information before broadcasting, carefully selecting their language and assessing the potential impact of their publications. They also advocated for better media representation at local events, calling for press reforms, capacity building for media professionals, and improved access to information sources.

In concluding the meeting, the Governor expressed gratitude to the participants for their dedication and reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining this dialogue framework to promote social cohesion and development in the Yaadga region.
