Ouagadougou: The central SIM Church of Bogand, in partnership with the Child and Youth Development Center (CDEJ) BF0216, celebrated academic achievement by rewarding 25 outstanding students from the past school year. The honorees included 12 primary school students and 13 secondary school students.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the award ceremony took place on the grounds of the central SIM Church, attracting a gathering of CDEJ officials, educators, parents, local authorities, and students. Pastor Jean Yarga of the central SIM Church of Bogand opened the event with a speech emphasizing the critical role of education and the pursuit of excellence in youth development.
Each student recognized received a bag and a set of school supplies appropriate for their educational level. Additionally, students who excelled in the CEP and BEPC exams were awarded bicycles along with their school kits. Tindano Daniel, president of the CDEJ management committee, commended the students for their accomplishments and motivated others to persevere in their academic endeavors.
The academic results of the center were highlighted during the event. At the Certificate of Primary Education (CEP) level, CDEJ achieved a 100% pass rate with all 35 students succeeding. For the BEPC (Brevet d’€š¬°tudes du Premier Cycle), five out of six candidates passed, marking an 83.33% success rate. The pass rates for intermediate grades were reported as 74.56% for primary education and 61.65% for secondary education.
The ceremony’s sponsor, Dr. Tiewend Jean Balima, provincial director of secondary, vocational, and technical education in Gnagna, lauded the center’s remarkable performance and its initiative in providing vocational training to around 200 students during the holidays. Alice Bikienga/Lankoand, the first vice-president of the special delegation of Bogand, also congratulated the winners and urged all students to pursue excellence and diligence.
This initiative by CDEJ aims to foster academic merit and enhance competitive spirit among learners.
