Houet: More than 200 trees fell at the Banak©l©daga Biblical and Agricultural Training Institute (IFBAB), a village located about fifteen kilometers from Bobo-Dioulasso, following a violent wind that occurred on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, also causing one injury.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the director of IFBAB, L©vis Ou©draogo, explained that he was in his office when he felt the wind pick up. "It was a violent wind, the likes of which I've never seen. We were watching the trees fall. It was frightening, because it's the holidays, but about thirty families live here, and we also host a Bible camp with over 300 people on site," he said. Faced with the severity of the storm, the director said he asked the occupants to stay inside the buildings to avoid any potential accidents.

Abdoulaye Sanou, the councilor for the village of Banak©l©daga, reported that the event caused panic among the population. "It was truly panic. The wind caused damage we had never seen before. Some people had their roofs torn off. Only one child was injured and taken to the hospital. He is out of danger," he said.

In a press release dated August 19, M©t©o Burkina urged people to stay indoors during storms and to avoid standing under trees or near metal objects.
