Kourw©ogo: The Wa Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) in the commune of Niou inaugurated a new dispensary on Thursday, August 27, 2026. The dispensary, which cost 35 million CFA francs, was donated by the Islamic Charity and Social Service Association (ABISS). The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of administrative and health authorities, as well as local residents.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the new dispensary in Wa includes six observation rooms, a consultation room, a pharmaceutical depot, a waiting room, two washrooms, and an external latrine block. In addition to the infrastructure, ABISS donated a batch of medicines and medical-technical equipment worth more than one million CFA francs to the CSPS. The association also committed to covering the cleaning costs of the premises for one year.
ABISS President Cheick Abdrahmane Guelb©ogo stated that this dispensary is the twelfth built by his association nationwide and the sixth in the commune of Niou. He emphasized that constructing health infrastructure is part of ABISS's efforts to contribute to the State's initiative in enhancing health coverage for the population. Guelb©ogo described this initiative as an act of compassion, aligning with the humanitarian mission of ABISS.
Upon receiving the keys to the infrastructure, Seydou Ou©draogo, the first vice-president of the special delegation of the commune of Niou, expressed gratitude to ABISS and its partners for their support of the community. He urged users to maintain the new clinic to preserve the infrastructure and ensure its longevity.
Representing the regional health directorate, Issiaka Ou©draogo noted that the new infrastructure would enhance the capacity to receive and treat patients. He also thanked the donor and encouraged the population to keep the premises clean.
The main building of the Wa CSPS, operational since 2005, had been unfit for use for several years, forcing officials to operate care units from the maternity ward, creating challenges for both users and healthcare staff. The new dispensary's commissioning is thus a relief for health workers and the people of Wa.
Magistrate and native of the area, Moussa Ou©draogo, who attended the ceremony, welcomed the completion of the infrastructure, viewing it as a relief for the people of Wa and neighboring villages. He urged local residents to mobilize further to support the CSPS's smooth operation. On this occasion, residents provided the staff with a supply of detergents.
