Ouagadougou: The commune of Tnado hosted, this Saturday, the day of school excellence under the banner of resilience in the face of gold mining, in the presence of a range of personalities including members of the government who came to encourage and congratulate the actors for their performances.
According to Burkina Information Agency, it was under the theme, "the promotion of academic excellence in the face of the lure of gold panning: issues and prospects for the sustainable development of Tnado" that this edition of the celebration of the local elite was held brilliantly. Local authorities from the commune of Tenado, including the Prefect/President of the special delegation, Asmde Dianda, who presided over the ceremony, the head of the basic education district (CCEB), Lassina Yelemou, who also presided over the ceremony, and the canton chief of Tenado, Baloua Bassono, along with the sponsors, Gildas Bado, Justin Bazi, Grgoire Baki, and Nebilbi Bassol, were present for this celebration of academic excellence. They were not the only dignitaries in attendance.
Indeed, this celebration mobilized an impressive array of national and local personalities to honor the merit of the district's best students. Among the prominent figures present were several members of the government and high authorities, who honored this edition with their presence, including the Minister of State, Minister of War and Patriotic Defense, Major General Clestin Simpor, the Minister of Justice, Mr. Edasso Bayala, the Minister in charge of Family Affairs, Lieutenant Colonel Passomwend Plagie Kabor, the President of the National Commission of the AES, Bassolma Bazi, the Secretary General of the Government and the Council of Ministers, Ousmane Ouattara, as well as the Governor of the Nando region, Adama Jean Yves Br.
In his welcoming remarks, the canton chief commended the mobilization of the local sons and daughters before giving the floor to PDS Dianda. He then presented a glowing assessment of the district's academic performance. In terms of academic results, the Sangui province, through the Tnado Primary School District (CEB), achieved the highest pass rate in the Nando region with a 98.81% success rate on the Primary School Leaving Certificate (CEP), with 1,663 students passing out of 1,683 candidates. Remarkably, all schools in the town of Tnado achieved a 100% pass rate. Furthermore, the top male and female students on the CEP, as well as the top student in non-formal education at both the provincial and regional levels, come from this district.
Major General Clestin Simpor conveyed the congratulations of the highest authorities to the educational stakeholders, parents, and graduates. He emphasized the government's strong commitment to education, expressing his hope that these bright young minds would, in a few years, be admitted to science-focused high schools and the Technological Academy of Burkina Faso.
The highlight of the morning was the awards ceremony for the deserving recipients. The winners left with bicycles, school supplies, cash prizes, and special awards, presented by the ministers and authorities in attendance.
To combine business with pleasure, a football match was held between the municipal team and the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) team on the local sports field. This sporting confrontation, illustrating the perfect symbiosis between the people and the men in uniform, ended with a victory for the FDS with a score of 2 goals to 1.
Sets of jerseys, medals, balls, special prizes and trophies were presented to both teams, sealing the end of this memorable day dedicated to education and social cohesion in Tnado.
