Ouagadougou: Boukar, 36, from the Thiou area in Yatenga, had acquired a two-way radio which he used to warn terrorists of the arrival of army aircraft, allowing them to take cover and escape airstrikes. Expressing gratitude to the fighting forces and asking for forgiveness from the Burkinab people, Boukar calls on other informants to repent in order to finally end the war.
According to Burkina Information Agency, in Yatenga province, the armed forces arrested a man last July who had been alerting terrorists to the movements of military aircraft in the Thiou area. Spared despite his harmful role, he now expresses his regret and calls on other informants to cease this behavior.
His arrest occurred as he was returning by bicycle from watering his flock. Upon encountering the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), he fled, first abandoning his ER post, then his bicycle, before being caught after a chase.
According to his testimony, the security forces told him they did not target unarmed individuals and spared him after confirming he was indeed unarmed. He then led them to the location where he had discarded his ER radio, allowing for its retrieval.
'I take this opportunity to thank the security forces for sparing my life and taking good care of me, even though they knew I was a bad person. In the bush, we always believed that the security forces killed people randomly. I have come today to express my deep regrets to all the people of Burkina Faso for the harm I may have caused,' he said, according to security sources.
Boukar also called on other holders of ER posts in the Thiou area and elsewhere, used to alert terrorists of military air movements, to put an end to this practice.
"Let us adopt good behaviors to allow the FDS to win the war and quickly bring peace back to the country," he urged.
In recent months, the professional and human dignity-respecting fighting forces have rescued dozens of children and terrorist fighters, offering them a chance to get back on the right path.
On the other hand, the boys continue to hunt down and neutralize those who refuse to heed the call of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Captain Ibrahim Traor, to lay down their arms unconditionally to preserve their lives.
