Ouagadougou: The president of the Association for Peace in Faso, Adama Compaor, called on religious and customary communities this Saturday to strengthen dialogue and social cohesion, on the occasion of the National Day of Peace.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the president of the Association for Peace in Faso stressed that the diversity of beliefs should not lead to division within Burkinabe society. Adama Compaor highlighted that religious teachings emphasize love, urging individuals to be ambassadors of peace even on social media platforms. He called on Burkinabe citizens to promote behaviors that are conducive to harmonious living.

He emphasized that, alongside the country's authorities, every citizen has a role in strengthening social cohesion in the face of the nation's numerous challenges. Adama Compaor encouraged people to focus on interreligious dialogue and avoid making defamatory or degrading remarks about different religions and beliefs.

Adama Compaor believes that fostering cohesion among various religious and customary communities can help address some of the societal issues affecting Burkina Faso. He urged the populace to set aside differences and contemplate mechanisms that can enhance national unity and contribute to nation-building.

The National Day of Peace celebration witnessed the participation of government and traditional authorities, along with Islamic, Catholic, and Protestant communities. These groups reaffirmed their commitment to promoting social cohesion within their respective communities.
