Ouagadougou: The youth of the Brba commune celebrated International Youth Day on Friday, August 28, 2026. Several activities marked this celebration, organized in collaboration with the commune's youth employment promotion service.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony was presided over by the president of the special municipal delegation (PDS), Inocent Nebi. It was held under the theme: "Role, responsibility and commitment of Burkinab youth in the construction of a sovereign confederal space". In his opening address, the PDS called on young people to recognize their role in building a sovereign, resilient, and prosperous confederal space. He argued that youth must develop a collective consciousness and remain vigilant against threats to sovereignty, social cohesion, and development.
Comrade Nebi urged the youth of Brba to be patriotic, hardworking, and responsible. He also encouraged them to demonstrate creativity and initiative to contribute to the development of the commune and Burkina Faso. The president of the special delegation also welcomed the establishment of the service to promote the professional integration of young people in the municipality through the "Referent Opportunit Insertion" initiative.
Following the opening ceremony, a conference on the Manifesto of the Popular Progressive Revolution (RPP) was held. The conference was led by Omar Traor, the representative to the President of Burkina Faso for the Guiriko region. She mobilized many young people as well as elders from the community. In his presentation, Comrade Traor explained the six main points of the RPP Manifesto. He invited participants to familiarize themselves with the document's content and also to contribute to its dissemination.
According to him, the Manifesto embodies the vision of the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor, for a new, free, and prosperous Burkina Faso. The special envoy concluded by urging the population to become more actively involved in supporting the momentum of the people's progressive revolution. For his part, Dramane Koura, president of the youth association in the Brba district, stated that this day aims to remind young people of their place and role in building Burkina Faso. He called on young people to support the RPP (Rally for Progress and Progress), saying that youth are the driving force behind the country's development. The celebration continued in the afternoon with a road safety awareness campaign and a football match.
