Ouagadougou: The Ouahigouya Hiking Club (CRPO) organized the first edition of the 'Ouahigouya-Lba Challenge' on Saturday, August 29, 2026, in which more than 150 walkers took part, AIB observed on site.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was themed "Personal challenge: let's break our own limits," marking a significant milestone for the Hiking Club of the city of Naaba Kango and the Yaadga region. Participants had the option to choose between two routes: a 25-kilometer path starting from Ouahigouya and a 15-kilometer path beginning in front of the Ldea Bernard Oudraogo University (ULBO), both concluding at the commune of Lba.
The walkers embarked on their journey at 5:00 AM, with the first participants reaching the municipality of Lba by 9:15 AM. The event saw a diverse group of participants, including young people, women, men, and senior citizens, all pushing their physical limits to complete the course.
Upon arrival, the walkers were greeted by the President of the Special Delegation of Lba, Dborah Koadiari Koanfanou, alongside customary, religious, and administrative authorities of the commune. Koanfanou expressed gratitude to the CRPO for selecting Lba as the host for this inaugural event.
Idrissa Nacanabo, President of the CRPO, expressed his delight with the enthusiasm shown for the event and extended thanks to the welcoming population of the commune of Lba and all contributors to its success.
Chief Naaba Bouli of Lba, who sponsored the event, conveyed through a representative his encouragement for the club to persist in its initiatives. He also reaffirmed the chief's commitment to supporting efforts that promote personal well-being, peace, and social cohesion.
The event concluded with a community meal, artistic performances, and a medal presentation to the participating walkers. The organizing committee heralded this successful first edition as a testament to the commitment to collective well-being through personal challenges.
