Launch of Animal Vaccination Campaign for Livestock Farmers in Boulkiemd/Thyou

Nahouri: Staff from the Thyou Livestock Technical Support Zone conducted a field visit to the village of Villa, marking the official launch of the 2026-2027 vaccination campaign for small ruminants and canines. Planned to take place in two phases in order to cover all 10 villages in the municipality, this initiative primarily targets small ruminants and canines before extending to large ruminants.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the campaign started on September 10, with the first phase aiming to combat peste des petits ruminants (PPR), rabies, and pasteurellosis. Deworming operations are also included in this phase. The area chief, Abdoul Azize Sanga, praised the smooth running of the operation, noting that it benefits from a state subsidy, making vaccination completely free for small ruminants and dogs. He urged the population to mobilize in large numbers and cooperate to ensure the success of this animal health mission.

The representative of the livestock farmers, Alassane Zongo, expressed gratitude for this privilege and invited farmers to actively cooperate with the technical agents to preserve the health of the livestock. The visit concluded with words of thanks from the residents to the technical staff, while awaiting the deployment of the campaign in other localities of the municipality.
