AES: Culture at the Heart of Sahelian Integration and Development

Niamey: The work of the strategic meeting of the Ministers in charge of Culture of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES) concluded on Monday, September 14, 2026, in Niamey, the capital of Niger, with the adoption of a joint communique, sealing the united vision of the three nations for a proud, sovereign, and culturally integrated Sahel.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the aim of this high-level meeting is to pool efforts and knowledge to make cultural wealth a powerful lever for economic development and community integration within the confederal space.

The meeting brought together the ministers of the three member countries, Sidi Mohamed Almahmoud of Niger, Pingdwende Gilbert Ouedraogo of Burkina Faso, and Mamou Daffe of Mali, accompanied by their sectoral experts.

During this intensive session, the delegations focused on a common strategy for a profound overhaul of the culture within the AES and on an operational roadmap to guide its concrete implementation on the ground.
