Gourma: The Minister of State, Minister of Agriculture, Water, Animal and Fisheries Resources, Commander Isma«l Sombie, on Monday, September 14, 2026, conducted a follow-up visit to the construction site of the modern slaughterhouse in Fada N'Gourma, on the sidelines of the mission to monitor the 2026-2027 agropastoral and fisheries campaign in the Goulmou, Sirba and Tapoa regions.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this visit by Commander Isma«l Sombie provided an opportunity to inquire about the progress of the work and the installation of equipment for this infrastructure intended to strengthen slaughtering capacities in the region. As of September 13, 2026, the physical completion rate of the work was 58.34%, with an equipment installation rate of 5%.

The time consumed for the work was 97%, excluding certain impacts related to suspensions, while that relating to equipment was 73.33%. The construction site, for which the service order was given on February 2, 2026, experienced an initial suspension of 42 days starting on March 29, followed by a second suspension pending the completion of additional work.

In front of the representatives of the companies working on the construction site, Commander Isma«l Sombie encouraged and congratulated the stakeholders for the efforts already made. He nevertheless urged them to ensure strict adherence to their specifications, particularly the requirements related to the quality and execution of the work.

With a total updated cost of 3,505,297,942 FCFA, including 1,207,081,173 FCFA for works and 2,298,216,769 FCFA for equipment, the modern slaughterhouse in Fada N'Gourma is planned for a daily capacity of 70 cattle, 200 small ruminants and 40 pigs. The infrastructure includes cattle, sheep-goat and pig pens, unloading docks, stores, an infirmary, lagoons, an incinerator, an autonomous water station, a video surveillance system as well as various facilities intended for the operation and security of the site.

It will also be equipped with a complete slaughter unit for cattle and small ruminants, a slaughter line for pigs, and a compost production machine. The site visit is part of the monitoring of infrastructure and actions in the agro-sylvo-pastoral and fisheries sector in the Goulmou, Sirba and Tapoa regions.
