Sandbondtenga: The Pissila Holidays Culture Sport (PIVACS) initiative provided 100 bags of corn to the widows of Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) members who lost their lives in service. The donation was made during the closing ceremony of the first edition of the maracana tournament "Resilience" on Saturday, September 12, 2026, in Pissila.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the gesture was presented by Wendiatta Sawadogo, the representative of the sponsors. The donation serves as a tangible sign of solidarity with the families affected by the loss of their loved ones. Organizers emphasized that the initiative aims to provide food assistance to these families while also expressing the community's appreciation for the ultimate sacrifice made by the fallen heroes.

The widows gratefully received the donation, noting its timely arrival amidst concerns about the ongoing agricultural campaign's challenges due to insufficient rainfall.

PIVACS promoter Tamou Ben Wahabou highlighted that "Resilience" is not only a sporting event but also a platform to honor those on the front lines and offer support to their families. Wahabou reiterated the initiative's dedication to preserving its social and patriotic elements.

The event, which was held under the patronage of the High Commissioner of Sandbondtenga, Idrissa Gamsonre, and chaired by Tambi Zouma, President of the Special Communal Delegation of Pissila, featured various activities including a popular cross-country race, aerobics, a women's cycling race, a petanque competition, and the maracana final.

In the maracana final, Naboanga United claimed victory against Vision Future FC with a 2-1 win on penalties. The event's host commended the impressive turnout, underscoring the importance of sports in fostering social cohesion and resilience.

The first edition of the event brought together diverse socio-professional groups in a celebratory atmosphere, symbolizing a return to peace.
