Ouagadougou: The municipality of Samogohiri held a session on Monday, September 14, 2026, to update its Municipal Development Plan (MDP). The ceremony was chaired by PDS Pascal Bouda.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the purpose of the meeting was to equip the municipality with a planning tool adapted to its new development priorities. In his opening remarks, Pascal Bouda, president of the Special Delegation of Samogohiri, highlighted the importance of the Local Development Plan (PCD) in defining the municipality's development priorities. He emphasized that the update would need to consider new national and regional guidelines, particularly those of the National Development Plan 2026-2030, known as the "Recovery Plan," and the Regional Development Action Plan (PARD) 2026-2028 of Guiriko.
Bouda invited stakeholders, partners, and the local population to take ownership of the process, ensuring that the future document reflects the actual needs of the communities. He stressed that the updated plan should serve as a reference for mobilizing resources and implementing priority actions.
The session included a training segment led by consultant Seydou Ouattara for members of the ad hoc committee. Discussions focused on principles, stages, and tools necessary for updating the Local Development Plan. This training aimed to enable commission members to better conduct the municipal diagnosis, identify main concerns of the population, and establish development priorities aligned with local realities.
At the session's conclusion, High Commissioner Sadou Sakira praised the initiative and encouraged stakeholders to make the plan's update a genuine exercise in collective reflection on Samogohiri's future. He called on the population to strengthen their cohesion, civic engagement, and participation in development activities. The High Commissioner specifically urged residents to pay their taxes and contribute more to collective initiatives, emphasizing that a municipality's autonomy and resilience depend on mobilizing its resources.
