Ouagadougou: In Nionko, in the commune of Pissila, students and parents carried out a spraying operation on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, aimed at protecting the one-hectare school field from pest insects.

According to Burkina Information Agency, after plowing, sowing, and weeding, the students, accompanied by their parents, once again mobilized to ensure the good development of bean production in the school field, set up on the grounds of the public primary school. "We worked during the holidays under the supervision of our parents. We weeded, sowed and plowed. Now we are treating the field against insects to hope for a good harvest," said Oudraogo Adama Bawaya, a student in CM2 class.

For the chairman of the Nionko School Council, Sournoma Sawadogo, the efforts made since the beginning of the campaign are starting to fuel hopes for a satisfactory harvest. "We are expressing our joy. It is thanks to the FDS and VDP that we were able to return to the village after two years of displacement. If the rain continues until the end, we hope to harvest the equivalent of half a ton of beans," he confided.

According to the chairman of the Nionko School Council, this production will be used to supply the local canteen and to help ease the burden on parents of students.
