Ouagadougou: The Mobile Brigade for Economic Control and the Repression of Fraud (BMCRF) conducted a large-scale control operation in the capital Ouagadougou and its surroundings, targeting the prices of cement and consumer goods. This operation led to the closure of five commercial establishments and the requisitioning of their owners for public works, as indicated by the institution on Thursday.

According to Burkina Information Agency, a total of five businesses were sealed off, and their owners were arrested and subsequently "requisitioned for community service." The BMCRF emphasized that these operations "will continue and be reinforced." They issued a warning that "any breach found will lead to the closure of the business concerned and the requisitioning of the unscrupulous actor for community service."

The Brigade teams conducted inspections from the Grand Market of Ouagadougou to Kamboinsin and the peripheral areas, focusing on shops selling consumer goods and cement storage facilities. The institution's statement highlighted that any attempt to illegally increase prices, whether on cement or basic necessities, resulted in the immediate closure of the point of sale and the application of seals.

Through this "crackdown," the institution aims to protect consumers, ensure the strict application of regulated prices, and preserve the purchasing power of the population.
