Ouagadougou: The new bus station in Kouka, Banwa Province, officially opened for transport activities on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, during a ceremony presided over by Omar Gidiouma Sanou, First Vice-President of the Special Delegation of the Kouka Municipality. The ceremony was attended by traditional and religious authorities, members of the station's management team, transport operators, and a large crowd of local residents.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Lassin Zalla, representing the management office, expressed satisfaction with the completion of the new infrastructure, emphasizing its importance in meeting the needs of both transport operators and passengers. Zalla encouraged all stakeholders to engage in responsible management practices to ensure the station's smooth operation and long-term viability. This new facility replaces the outdated infrastructure, which officials noted was no longer adequate for proper transport activities.

During the official opening, Omar Gidiouma Sanou, the first vice-president of the Kouka Special Delegation, emphasized the importance of responsible use and management of the station. He described the station as a communal asset and urged transport operators, users, and management committee members to contribute to its preservation and efficient operation.

The ceremony concluded with a tour of the new bus station's facilities by the authorities and attendees. The infrastructure project, which cost 322,935,004 FCFA (including VAT), was entirely funded by the Emergency Territorial Development and Resilience Project (PUDTR), in collaboration with the Kouka municipality.
