Ouagadougou: Nearly 300 secondary school teachers in the Sourou province have commenced a training program aimed at bolstering their skills to support educational reforms in Burkina Faso. The Provincial Directorate of Secondary Education and Vocational and Technical Training (DPESFPT) launched the Pedagogical Animation Days (JAP), 2026 session, in Tougan.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the training session, which began on September 16, 2026, involves 294 teachers over a three-day period. It is themed "Implementation of reforms in secondary education: development of skills through vocational training and technological and scientific education." The event took place in the multipurpose hall of Tougan and was inaugurated by the High Commissioner of Sourou province, Dsir Badolo, alongside other provincial dignitaries, education stakeholders, and defense and security forces.

The objective of the JAP sessions is to empower teachers with the capacity to implement the educational reforms focused on scientific and technological education and vocational training. The provincial director of secondary education and vocational and technical training emphasized that the JAPs align with the government's educational policy, moving beyond traditional knowledge-based education to prioritize know-how.

Certified French teacher and participant Sidbewendin Bougma expressed his anticipation that the training would help him grasp new pedagogical approaches. He hopes these sessions will enable him to better understand concepts that will enhance classroom teaching, in line with the reforms.

High Commissioner Dsir Badolo encouraged the educators to diligently engage in the program to maximize their learning experience. He highlighted the importance of teachers being proactive in transforming Burkinabe schools into systems that are more professional, scientific, technological, and digital, meeting the nation's needs. This transformation, he believes, will contribute to the development and sovereignty of Burkina Faso.
