New York:The Burkinabe delegation to the 81st United Nations General Assembly has initiated a series of bilateral meetings in New York, engaging with countries such as the United States, Morocco, and Singapore.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the first meeting involved Burkina Faso‚s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Karamoko Jean Marie Traor, and the US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Frank Garcia Jr. Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in security and economic sectors, acknowledging the achievements made after overcoming previous misunderstandings.

Frank Garcia Jr. emphasized the United States' commitment to a partnership based on mutual respect and sovereignty. Minister Traor encouraged continued dialogue and openness, aiming to avoid past mistakes influenced by geopolitical pressures, and urged for an objective analysis to foster a sustainable partnership.

Subsequent discussions were held with Morocco's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita. Both ministers highlighted the strategic and fruitful relations between their countries, reinforced by 14 cooperation agreements signed in 2025. Minister Traor commended King Mohammed s vision for enhancing connectivity in the Sahel region.

The final meeting on September 22 was with Singapore's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan. The dialogue centered on enhancing cooperation in business and ICT sectors. The ministers expressed mutual interest in organizing official visits to further solidify their partnership.
