Burkina Faso’s President Traor© Emphasizes New Approach to France Relations

Ouagadougou:President Ibrahim Traor© has stated that any future relations with France will differ significantly from past interactions. Before considering a return of French presence, Burkina Faso aims to enhance its capabilities across various sectors.

According to Burkina Information Agency, President Traor© emphasized that while a complete severance of ties with France is not anticipated, the nature of future relations will hinge on Burkina Faso's readiness and strategic posture. He stressed the importance of not rushing into renewed engagements without thorough preparation.

Traor© also highlighted the need for Africans to learn from historical events, such as those in Haiti, to better navigate power dynamics with international entities. He used this historical context to argue for a more informed approach to external relations.

In terms of interactions with the European Union, Traor© noted that ties are not entirely severed. However, he mentioned that Burkina Faso has expressed concerns over certain resolutions passed by European parliamentarians, which led to requests for the withdrawal of these resolutions. The president underscored the necessity for mutual respect and sovereignty in international relationships, stating that partnerships should be based on respect, otherwise, nations should pursue their own paths independently.
