Bobo-Dioulasso:The Lamogoya Sport and Development Association announced that the 3rd edition of the Lamogoya Marathon is scheduled for November 15 in Bobo-Dioulasso. This year's event will include new features, such as an arm-wrestling competition.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the marathon program includes a 5km race for students and a 10km race open to all runners. The newly introduced arm-wrestling competition will have two categories lightweight and heavyweight. The association aims to promote social cohesion and a sense of community through these sporting events.
Dramane Sanou, organizer of the Lamogoya Sport and Development Association, explained that the addition of arm wrestling is intended to increase the sport's visibility in Burkina Faso, as athletes currently lack competitive opportunities. "We have great athletes who practice arm wrestling, but unfortunately, they don't have competitions. That's why we decided this year, in addition to the marathon, to also include arm wrestling to provide competition for fans of this sport," he stated.
The arm wrestling event will commence on October 11, 2026, with qualifying rounds, and the final will take place on October 14 at the ‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬¦¡¬°talon field in Bobo-Dioulasso. Prizes and gifts will be awarded to the top athletes in each competition. Organizers are inviting authorities, sponsors, and partners to support the event and are encouraging sports fans to participate to ensure the success of this third edition.
