Gnie Ditar Wins First Edition of ‘Djr on Stage’ as Best Artist

Dibougou:Gnie Ditar emerged as the winner of the inaugural "Djr on Stage" cultural event held in Dibougou, surpassing Bailai BAP, Alphonse Som, and nine other artists after a three-day competition.

According to Burkina Information Agency, "Djr on Stage" was organized from September 25 to 27, 2026, with the goal of promoting artists from the Djr region and determining the best among them through a public voting competition. A total of 12 artists participated, showcasing their talents in an effort to win over the audience, whose votes were gathered both online and through ticket purchases that included a voting right.

Voting, which was open from September 12 to 27, concluded with Gnie Ditar securing victory with 16,355 votes. Bailai BAP followed with 14,515 votes, while Alphonse Som received 1,270 votes. As the crowned best artist of Djr, Gnie Ditar was awarded a trophy and a prize of 1,000,000 FCFA.

After receiving the award, Gnie Ditar expressed gratitude to the audience with a performance that attracted a large crowd. The performance included the song "Klbenaba," which speaks to the end of war and the struggle for national sovereignty, and was met with enthusiastic participation from the spectators.

Abdoul Nasser Sanogo, the promoter of "Djr on Stage," highlighted the abundance of relatively unknown artists in the Djr region and the event's role in promoting them to achieve national and international recognition. He noted the unexpectedly large audience and expressed hope for greater artist participation in future editions.

The event's patron, Amidou Konat, High Commissioner of Bougouriba, commended the support for the event and encouraged continued efforts to promote regional artists. He emphasized the importance of sustaining the event to foster cultural heritage and artist promotion.

Sraphine Som, representing the Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, emphasized the ministry's support for the event as a contributor to the cultural agenda of both the country and the Djr region. She noted that while only one artist was chosen as the winner, all participating artists were valued and that the competition could inspire the creation of high-quality works.

The first edition of "Djr on Stage" concluded successfully, with organizers expressing aspirations to enhance artist participation and solidify the event's presence in future editions.
