Fada N'Gourma:Goulmou Dr. Boalidioa Tankoano, the special envoy to the Presidency of Burkina Faso for the Goulmou, Sirba, and Tapoa regions, has emphasized the achievements made during Captain Ibrahim Traor's four-year tenure. These accomplishments span various sectors, including health, education, agriculture, security, infrastructure, and humanitarian action.
According to Burkina Information Agency, in healthcare, Dr. Tankoano pointed to the hemodialysis center in Fada N'Gourma as a significant advancement for patients with kidney failure. The construction of community health centers at the Fada N'Gourma garrison and in Bogand, along with medical campaigns, have improved access to care. The Presidential Health Initiative, launched in July 2024, aims to strengthen healthcare facilities and enhance care provision.
In education, the construction of two lecture halls at Yembila Abdoulaye Toguyeni University in Fada N'Gourma was highlighted as a measure to increase capacity. Additionally, air transport initiatives since 2023-2024 have helped over 250 high school graduates from the Tapoa region access higher education institutions, overcoming geographic challenges.
The agricultural sector has seen initiatives such as the agricultural and livestock offensive, providing inputs, seeds, fertilizers, agricultural equipment, and tractors to municipalities like Kantchari and Diapaga. Investments in agricultural water management are also planned to address rainfall variability.
Security has been bolstered with the deployment of Rapid Intervention Battalions (BIR), with nearly eight battalions now stationed in the Goulmou, Sirba, and Tapoa regions. On the administrative front, the redrawing of the old Eastern region into three separate regions aims to bring governance closer to the populace.
Infrastructure improvements include ongoing work on the Gounghin-Fada road, extending to Kantchari. Humanitarian efforts by the National Council for Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation (CONASUR) and subsidized grain sales by the National Food Security Stock Management Company (SONAGESS) have been notable. Tapoa received approximately 1,200 tonnes of cereals from a national stock of 6,000 tonnes.
Dr. Tankoano also highlighted Captain Ibrahim Traor's leadership in maintaining the sovereignty and dignity of the Burkinab© people, citing the withdrawal of French forces and measures to uphold the dignity of vulnerable individuals during aid operations.
As the fifth year of governance begins, Dr. Tankoano urged the consolidation of the Popular Progressive Revolution (RPP) gains and encouraged public involvement in sustaining these achievements. "I urge the people to work towards consolidating the gains of the four years of implementing the RPP policies," he stated, calling for continued efforts toward sustainable development in the Goulmou, Sirba, and Tapoa regions.
