Burkina Faso’s Ministry of Mobility Announces New Bus Lines and Innovations

Ouagadougou:The Ministry of Territorial Administration and Mobility (MATM) has unveiled a series of new initiatives, including the introduction of air-conditioned buses and the establishment of new SOTRACO public transport lines. This announcement was part of an open house event held on Saturday, where the ministry showcased its achievements and innovations.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was part of the second phase of the 3rd edition of the National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Civic Participation (JEPPC). The theme was "Food sovereignty and economic patriotism," and it provided a platform for the MATM to highlight its major accomplishments and reforms.

Attendees learned about the Ouagadougou Public Transport Company (SOTRACO)'s efforts in digitalization and improving transportation for students. The ministry's announcement also included reforms aimed at enhancing the transport of people and goods.

Additionally, other organizations such as the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and the National Meteorological Agency (ANAM) presented their advancements. ANAC introduced digital solutions for managing airport access, while ANAM showcased its systems for monitoring meteorological phenomena.

The event concluded with a dialogue featuring Minister of State Emile Zerbo, addressing topics including territorial reorganization, civil status modernization, and the strengthening of emergency services. Minister Zerbo emphasized the importance of strategic defense and the need for effective territorial organization to enhance security in the country.

In discussions about associations, Minister Zerbo highlighted the need for stronger monitoring mechanisms and reforms in the legal framework governing associations and religious freedoms. He also discussed advancements in civil status modernization, including data digitization and online procedural capabilities.

In civil protection, the minister noted the expansion of the National Fire Brigade's network, with new fire stations and rescue centers under construction.
