Tcheriba:The President of the Special Delegation of Tcheriba, Ouesseni Logora, led the municipality's second accountability meeting, highlighting that over 99 million CFA francs have been mobilized, with more than 40 million allocated to key investments by 2025. This represents a recovery rate of 56.48% against a forecast of 176.8 million.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting included representatives from the municipality, technical services, and partners such as the Belgian Agency for International Cooperation (Enabel). The event served as a platform for evaluating progress and discussing development challenges.
In 2025, Tcheriba undertook projects like building an inn and drilling wells to enhance living conditions and boost resources. However, tax collection faced challenges due to evasion, noted town hall treasurer Mostapha Dissa. The customary authorities pledged support for raising awareness on these issues.
Of six planned projects in 2025, only two were completed, with another ongoing. Three projects were stalled due to a lack of authorization from the central administration. Work on the Medical Centre's maternity ward was also halted due to insufficient funding.
For 2026, Tcheriba plans to allocate over 122 million FCFA to operations, focusing on acquiring equipment, rehabilitating health centers, equipping schools, constructing shops and boreholes, and improving public lighting. Women's coordination president Abi Traore urged the construction of a women's house for training and income-generating activities.
Soumana Gnanou from Tierkou criticized tax non-payment and requested school latrines from Enabel. Representatives from other areas added requests for boreholes and an ambulance. Enabel's Jeriothe Kabre committed to relaying these requests to higher authorities and reaffirmed support in water, sanitation, and health projects.
Municipal officials noted the gradual deployment of mobile networks, with plans to extend services to underserved areas. Certificates of recognition were awarded to several partners, including Enabel and others, for their contributions. The stakeholders reiterated their commitment to supporting the delegation's efforts in tax awareness and development initiatives.
